فيه (fīh)
There is / there are — invariable, no gender or plural. Followed by an indefinite noun: fīh mat3am hena = There's a restaurant here.
مفيش (mafīsh)
There isn't / there aren't / there's none. From ma- + fīh + -sh. E.g. mafīsh mushkila = No problem.
How do you make a yes/no question with fīh?
Change nothing but your intonation — raise your voice at the end. Fīh mayya sukhna? = Is there hot water?
How does Egyptian Arabic say 'to have'?
There is no verb 'to have.' You use the preposition عند 3and ('at/chez') + a possessive suffix: 3andi 3arabeyya = 'at-me a car' = I have a car.
Conjugate 3and: I, you (m), you (f), he, she
3andi (I have), 3andak (you m.), 3andik (you f.), 3andu (he has), 3andaha (she has).
Conjugate 3and: we, you all, they
3andina (we have), 3anduku (you all have), 3anduhum (they have).
معنديش (ma3andīsh)
I don't have — 3andi wrapped in the ma...sh negation. Ma3andīsh filūs = I don't have money.
How do you negate 3and forms?
Wrap the word in ما...ش (ma...sh), with a small vowel shift: ma3andaksh (you m.), ma3andūsh (he), ma3andahāsh (she), ma3andināsh (we), ma3anduhumsh (they).
How do you put fīh and 3and in the past?
Add the verb كان kān ('was/were') in front — kān fīh = there was; kān 3andi = I had.
عندكم شاي؟ (3anduku shāy?)
Do you (plural = this shop/establishment) have tea? A super-common shop phrase.
مفيش فكة (mafīsh fakka)
There's no change / I don't have change.
